Feeding Habits and Food Types

Back to 'AWCP'

Another part of understanding the FF behavior – in order to control them well - is FOOD:

For example, The Oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) with a broad host range, can attack more than 150 fruits. But is especially attracted to mango and guava and these kind of soft shell tropical fruits more than others. So when the mango becomes mature they lay eggs in it. When the mango season is over the food source also does, so they migrate to another area with similar food source and qualities to continue this propagation cycle.
